Welcome to 2 Dudes and a 6 Pack, where today we’ll be looking at the top 10 Belgian beers. Widely regarded as one of the best beer producing countries in the world, what ten beers rein supreme? We use a composite rating of Beer Advocate and Rate Beer ratings to determine our top 10. Ahead of time, I’d like to apologize for my pronunciation of some of these beers. Starting of the list at number 10 is St. Bernardus Abby 12. This Quadrupel style beer has an ABV of 10 percent with an overall composite rating of 4.28 out of five. 9 on the list is Cantillon’s Fou Foune. This lambic style beer brings fruity notes to the top 10 with an ABV of 5 percent. It also features a composite rating of 4.28 out of 5. 8 on the list is 3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Vintage. Another Lambic style beer, this classic Belgian beer has a 6 percent ABV and a total rating of 4.29. The 7 spot on the list is Lou Pepe Pure Kriek. The second beer from Cantillon. Another Lambic style fruit beer, the cherry based beer has an ABV of 5 percent and a total rating of 4.29. 6th and just out of the top 5 is Biabaer Lambik from Cantillon. As lambics begin to dominate this list, the beer has a unique vintage every year. The current summer lambic has a 5 percent ABV for a composite rating of 4.33. At number 5 is 3 Fonteinen’s Framboos. This special raspberry lambic has an ABV of 6 percent and notches a composite rating of 4.335 out of 5. Batting 4th on the list of top 10 Belgian beers is (Ves-Vel-Teren’s) Wesveleteren’s 8. A break from the lambics, this Belgian Strong Ale from the classic Trappist brewery has an 8 percent ABV and a total rating of 4.34. Number 3 is Rochefort 10. Another classic trappist beer from the Rochefort brewery, this Quadrupel style beer as a 11.3 percent ABV and a total composite rating of 4.385. 2nd and just out of the top 10 is 3 Fontenien’s Zenne Y Frontera. The return of this lambic style beer has a higher 7 percent ABV and a total composite rating of 4.42 out of 5. The top spot on our list of top 10 Belgian beers is Westvleteren 12. This quadruple 10.2 percent ABV beer is one of the most sought after beers in the world. With a commanding composite rating of 4.52, it makes sense why. Well, there you have it. The top 10 Belgian beers in the world. Dominated by lambics and quadruple trappist beers, a host of 4 plus composite rated beers didn’t make the cut simply because of the overall quality you find in Belgium.
