In Killer Instinct, the main focus is using long combos, and breaking the opponent's combos, which set the bar for games like Marvel vs Capcom. It's not as gory as Mortal Kombat, but was still rated 18+ in Germany. I main Sabrewulf because of his punishing uppercut, and I don't know how I'd defeat the final boss without it. Killer Instinct was shipped with an awesome soundtrack on CD, and a black cartridge. Interestingly, there were several references to Killer Instinct in Donkey Kong Country 2. Cranky Kong has a Killer Instinct arcade machine and poster in his cabin. Also, whenever I see the skeleton hand and sword boss, I think of Spinal.
