COVID-19 'super spreader' may have caused many of Melbourne's latest infections

Fears have emerged a single coronavirus 'super spreader' could be responsible for almost all the cases of the disease around Melbourne's north-west corridor where a number of locked down suburbs are situated. Victoria's Health Minister Jenny Mikakos had revealed the theory on Friday after the state recorded another 66 cases of COVID-19. "There seems to be a single source of infection for many of the cases that have gone across the northern and western suburbs of Melbourne," Ms Mikakos said. It comes as the Andrews government hasn't ruled out extending the lockdown or expanding it to further suburbs as dozens of new cases continue to be recorded daily. Residents from 36 Victorian suburbs are currently in four-weeks of lockdown and will be unable to leave their homes unless they are exercising, seeking or providing medical care, purchasing essential items or going to work.
