Installation photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/1266735... :ABOUT: Venus Jasper (Griepink) is bringing their current research into Wetland Worship and speculative Swamp Goddesses to Rupert in the form of a site-specific installation and performance. At Rupert, Venus created "Murky Medicine Swamp" - an indoor sacred swamp art installation that holds medicinal and mystical offerings: herbal medicines, medicine of smell and stench, medicine of wet-to-dry, water-to-land substances, medicine of submerging, covering one’s skin, the medicine of reflection in the waters of bogs, the medicine of emotion, sadness, grief, and death. The performance OAKBaLLZ and EELskin (Murky Murky, Little Bitch Witch) contained a spoken word/spell that evokes the medicine and reflection of the dark waters of bogs, fens, and swamps: the medicine of emotion, sadness, grief, and death. This is followed by a direct confrontation with the audience in which Jasper inquired why they hadn't left any offerings in the swamps for decades...
