Are you just starting out and need to learn how to prep a classic truck or antique car for paint? This is the video for you!!! In this episode, I'm going to show you how to remove stubborn paint and primer. We will cover different techniques for paint removal including the use of stripping disks, sandpaper, roloc discs, chemical strippers, wire wheels and sandblasters. We will talk about mechanical vs chemical stripping of automotive paint. Once I have the 1971 Chevrolet truck down to bare metal, we will cover rust conversion and sand blasting rust. Then we will cover the proper way to clean bare metal for primer application in my DIY paint booth! Russ from Double R Restoration and I will go into the pros and cons of self etching primer and epoxy primer. You are not going to want to miss this!
