Winter on the farm has its own quiet rhythm. In this video, we spend a few slow winter days at home. Working through simple homeschool crafts with our kids, starting flower seeds in the greenhouse, caring for our animals, and tending to the everyday chores that come with life in the countryside. These short but peaceful days are a reminder to slow down, work with our hands, and enjoy being together as a family. The supplemental homeschool program we have enjoyed for the past few months (shown in this video) is Wondergarten. It’s an early childhood curriculum that our kids have been absolutely loving! Full of interesting stories, fun songs, recipes, crafts and so much more! You can find the curriculum here: https://wondergarten.net/ Here is their recipe that we used to make our festive play dough! White Play Dough: 1 cup flour 6tbsp salt 1tbsp corn starch 1tbsp cream of tartar 1cup boiling water 1tbsp oil 1tsp peppermint extract (Also can add in red food coloring to a second batch for a red color dough) Step 1: whisk together flour, salt, cornstarch, and cream of tartar. Step 2: add oil, extracts, boiling water (and food coloring) at the same time Step 3: mix with a spoon of a spatula until thick porridge consistency forms Step 4: turn out hot dough on silicone baking mat Step 5: use the mat to knead the dough until smooth and supple. Work in additional flour if dough is sticky. Step 6: let cool slightly before presenting to children. Thank you for sharing a piece of our winter farm life with us.
