The Courtaulds Limited Factory bell and clock stood as an important symbol for the workforce, particularly the women who worked in artificial fibers, contributing significantly to Nuneaton. During the 1980s demolition of the factory, Harold Lapworth, the clock's caretaker, advocated for the preservation of the bell and its mechanism. Although he feared the council would not take responsibility, Lapworth's efforts led to the British Horological Institute saving it, and it is now housed in the Museum of Timekeeping. Currently silent, the bell awaits restoration, representing the dedication of Lapworth and the Nuneaton Society in ensuring its preservation.
