Fruit Brute is back from the crypt… and I found some in the wild! We’re 100 days away from Halloween, and there’s no better way to welcome the start of spooky season than with a big bowl of Monster Cereal. So I was stoked to find a four pack of breakfast nostalgia at Sam’s Club. I’m sure you’re familiar with Count Chocula, his little blue pal Boo Berry, and his old friend, Frankenberry, but this four pack also marks the return of the Fruit Brute. This cereal hasn’t been on the shelves for nine years. Fruit Brute joined the trio of other cereal monsters back in 1974. This cryptid cereal didn’t last long though, and was locked away in General Mills vault back in 1982. Quentin Tarantino’s film Pulp Fiction spurred new interest in the long-dead cereal when a box of Fruit Brute appeared in one scene. In 2013, General Mills brough the sought after Monster back to life for one Halloween season, along with his similar, yet ill-fated friend, Yummy Mummy. Since then, Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy have been absent from store shelves in autumn. While there’s no sign of the mummy’s return… Fruit Bring is bringing its blast of artificial cherry flavor to the breakfast table today. As soon as you break open the bag, you’re hit with that unmistakable artificial cherry scent. You know, like part car air freshener and part Kool Aid. Anyway,I loaded up a bowl of the stuff, then poured in some milk, and chowed down. Honestly, it’s like Frankenberry, just with a more pronounced flavor, but if you want a dose of cereal nostalgia, grab you one of these four packs, because Monsters cereals are just Forking Good.
