Many wake from their ordeal with stories of tunnels, of lights, and of what they call out-of-body travel. Instead of dismissing these so-called "Near Death Experience" claims, several groups of scientists around the world have started to study the phenomenon. Two papers, recently published in renowned scientific journals, seem to have proven that a proportion of these patients has, in fact, experienced thought after their brain has died. They believe they may be on the verge of uncovering a new form of science. One which would alter our perceptions of the relationship between the brain, and what we believe is our mind.
