In his conversation with Sopnendu Mohanty (Chief FinTech Officer, Monetary Authority of Singapore and moderator of the “Bridging the Gap: Unlocking GenAI's Potential Through Inclusive Access to the Digital Economy” session at the 2024 Singapore FinTech Festival), Robert F. Smith, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Vista Equity Partners (Vista), discussed what he calls his “engineered approach” to investing, generative AI (GenAI) and the intersection of business and philanthropy. Smith began by reflecting on how his work as an intern at Bell Labs informs his decision-making, investment approach and hiring process at Vista. A major focus of the conversation was on GenAI and its impact on enterprise software.
