The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey (The 5th Wave Series) (Book Summary) - Minute Book Report

This is a quick book summary of The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey. This channel discusses and reviews books, novels, and short stories through drawing...poorly. Transcript: This is a story about a girl named Cassie who survived a series of attacks from an alien race called the Others and is hiding out in an abandoned hotel with a group of friends led by Ben, her old high school crush. Cassie’s parents are dead and she saved her brother, Sammy, from becoming a soldier for the Others. Cassie hopes that Evan, a Silencer who saved her life and destroyed the Other’s training camp, will return to her. Ringer, one of the girls in the group, searches the nearby area and accidentally shoots Teacup, another girl in the group. They are both captured by the Others. Grace, a Silencer and former childhood friend of Evan, finds Evan and helps him regain his strength. Evan tries to kill her, but she survives and chooses not to kill Evan, but follow him to Cassie. Evan searches for Cassie as Grace follows behind, and they are attacked by soldiers. Grace is shot and Evan gets away, realizing that the soldiers are not able to recognize him as an Other, but as a human. Evan finds Cassie’s hideout and enters. As Evan searches the abandoned hotel, Cassie accidentally shoots him. Evan regains consciousness, but the group argues about what to do with him. Evan instructs Cassie to go to Grace’s hideout and when the Others pick her up to take her back to the mothership, Cassie should use that opportunity to destroy the Others. A helicopter drops off a girl named Megan, a friend of Sammy. However, they discover that she has a bomb in her throat that could kill them all. The group votes to kill Megan to deactivate the bomb, but they decide to cut it out. Grace appears at the abandoned hotel and attacks them. They fight back and Grace escapes. The group decides to head toward Grace’s hideout, but there is confusion because Ben and Evan are both injured. They end up leaving behind Poundcake, a wounded guy in the group. Grace reappears and shoots Poundcake in a taunting manner. With his last breath, Poundcake detonates the bomb and destroys Grace and himself in the process. Meanwhile, Ringer meets Commander Vosch, the leader of the Others, and is injected with alien technology that enhances her movement and fighting abilities. A guy named Razor takes care of her as she recovers and they become friends over chess and conversation. As time passes, they develop a secret code for communication and plan an escape. After fighting her way free, Ringer saves Teacup and they meet Razor in a helicopter. They are tracked down by the Others and so Razor and Teacup parachute out, while the pilot and Ringer stay in the air. Ringer leaps out of the helicopter and lands in a lake. She isn’t badly hurt because of the alien technology that is in her body and meets up with Razor at the crash site. Razor leads Ringer to a warehouse where Commander Vosch is waiting for her, indicating that Razor had been working with Commander Vosch the entire time. Ringer and Commander Vosch fight and Ringer is defeated. Razor continues to care for Ringer before they are taken back to a facility. Commander Vosch explains that he wants Ringer to hunt down Evan. In the end, Razor is killed trying to save Ringer as she escapes and Evan returns to Cassie and the rest of the group.
