SURGERY: Dr. David Palombo: cerabone® plus for treatment of an aesthetic implant fenestration

In this surgical video, Dr. Palombo demonstrates Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) at an implant site in the anterior zone. A systemically healthy patient presented with a residual root at tooth 21 under a Maryland bridge. Tooth extraction was performed atraumatically and implant placement was performed with guided surgery, to allow the achievement of a proper prosthetic emergence. Albeit the most coronal portion of the buccal bone was maintained, a considerable buccal fenestration was present. Bone regeneration was performed with a mixture of autogenous bone and cerabone® plus, stabilized with Jason® membrane and tacks. Finally, submerged healing was applied by advancing the flap to achieve first intention closure. Dr. Palombo graduated summa cum laude in dentistry at the University of Milan, Italy in 2015. In 2017 he obtained Master of Sciences in Periodontology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. Since 2021 he is member of the EFP Board of Periodontology.
