He belonged to the distinguished Patiala Gharana, one of the most respected musical families in South Asia. Early Life & Family Background Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Asad was the son of Ustad Amanat Ali Khan, a legendary classical singer. His grandfather Akhtar Hussain Khan and great-grandfather Ali Baksh Khan were also renowned musicians. His younger brother, Shafqat Amanat Ali, is a well-known contemporary singer. Musical Career Asad Amanat Ali started singing at an early age, following in his father’s footsteps. His breakthrough came when he sang "Umran Langiyan Paban Par", a song originally composed by his father. He gained recognition for his soulful renditions of ghazals, semi-classical thumris, and classical compositions. Some of his most popular songs include: "Insha Ji Utho" (Originally sung by Amanat Ali Khan) "Ghar Wapas Jab Aao Gay" "Ab Ke Hum Bichray" "Pyar Nahin Hai Sur Se Jisko" Awards & Recognition He was honored with the Pride of Performance Award by the Government of Pakistan in recognition of his contribution to classical and ghazal singing. His voice had a unique mix of tradition and modernity, making him popular among both classical music lovers and the younger audience. Death & Legacy Asad Amanat Ali Khan passed away due to heart failure in London on 8 April 2007 at the age of 51.
