Let's face it: Instagram sucks for artists, and it's sucked for a long time. But, the good news is that if you hate it, you can always leave. I left a few months ago, and I regret nothing about the decision! Youtube is a much better platform in so many ways, and as an oil painter, the pressure to constantly have new content 5-7x/week on IG was too unsustainable for me to bear. On Youtube, I can post art vlogs, supplies reviews, painting process videos, and such a wide variety of content that I never get tired, and my content calendar isn't reliant on my painting schedule.
