Vapour Management Alcohol still with adjustable vapour restrictor.

I have always wanted to build a VM (Vapour Management) Still with which I could experiment to make ultra clean alcohol in one run. The only element in the VM still design that is adjustable is the gate valve that controls the amount of vapour you can take off. Restriction of the vapour is either controlled by fixed blanking plates/collars (Nixon & McCaw - The Compleat Distiller 2001) or a reduced T-joint where the take-off is. I speculated (not "calculated" - you must be clever to do that!) that if I can make a "restrictor" of some sorts that is adjustable I would be able to control the flow of the vapour. I made the "restrictor" from a 1" tri-clamp ferrule and the retaining rings from a thin piece of stainless sheet. The column was packed with 370g of STAINLESS SCRUBBERS and NOT SPP. www.distiller.co.nz
