SERMON TITLE: THE STONE AND THE REPROACH by P Elisha Adefesobi There is a stone you can avoid by obedience, and there is a stone only God can roll away by mercy. Reproach comes in two dimensions: Internal reproach External reproach THE STONE THAT MUST BE ROLLED AWAY(Genesis 2:5–7) What is a stone? A stone is a barrier — a resistance that stands against the fulfillment of destiny. It is a blockage, often appearing as sin or reproach, designed to delay, divert, or destroy what God has ordained. There are doors of blessing, and there are doors of destruction. That is why we must be discerning—because the devil is always seeking an opportunity to open evil doors in a man’s life. In Joshua 5:9 the Lord testified: “This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you.” And now, by the same authority, God is declaring to you: As this year comes to an end, every reproach assigned to your life shall be rolled away in Jesus’ name. REPROACH AND THE DOOR OF SIN Reproach enters through the door of sin. Once that door is opened, reproach gains access. But before reproach manifests, there are altars. Many reproaches are sponsored from altars — ancestral, foundational, or personal. If you carry a vision but have not confronted the altar at your foundation, that altar will continually rise against your destiny. Some altars are even programmed to control, limit, and sabotage a man’s life. But by the mercy of God, I pray: Every altar speaking sorrow, shame, and delay against your destiny—be consumed by fire! Victory over destiny begins with “victory over the altar.” THE INTERNAL REPROACH: SIN WITHIN 1. Doubt (Unbelief) Every fall into sin begins with doubt. When a person begins to look down on themselves and their future, they become vulnerable. That weakness is what the devil observes and exploits. Unbelief causes those who should trust God fully to drift into sin. The moment you lose sight of eternity, sin becomes attractive. (Hebrews 11:6; Romans 1:17) Faith sustains righteousness. When faith collapses, compromise enters. 2. Vulnerability to Outside Voices(Matthew 15:19) Your spirit is strengthened—or weakened—by what you allow inside. What you listen to is what you sow into your soul. When you open yourself to defilement, you gradually silence the Spirit within you. Jesus said: “Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out.”(Matthew 15:11) When your heart, mouth, and body are surrendered to the world, the world will speak through you. 1 John 2:15–17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him…..” Living only to please the flesh kills spiritual sensitivity. God calls us to grow—away from malice, bitterness, hatred, and strife—into maturity and holiness. (Matthew 16:19; 1 John 2:12) 3. Sin Makes You a Prey Sin turns a man into food for the serpent. So when God warns you to flee sin, He is not restricting you—He is protecting you. (Romans 6:23; John 8:32) When you overcome sin, you are crucified with Christ. (Galatians 2:20) And if you are crucified with Christ, ask yourself: Can the devil attack Christ? Can a goat attack a lion? 4. The Act of Ingratitude Never attribute victory to your strength. Ingratitude is pride in disguise. When you see someone fall, do not condemn them—because it is not by your power that you are standing. Condemnation silently tells God, “I stood by myself.” Gratitude is the language of humility. Learn to bridle your tongue. Remain clothed in humility, and grace will always cover you. PROPHETIC PRAYER Pray for yourself: “Father, I receive grace to walk in holiness and righteousness. Roll away every reproach—internal and external—and let my destiny speak freely, in Jesus’ name.”
