Laugavegur Trail: Day 2, Emstrur to Þórsmörk

6/23/2019 This is the final stretch (15km) of my two-day Laugavegur hike, and I had reserved 6pm TREX bus out of Þórsmörk. Given the perfect weather and ample time I was pretty relaxed. After a brief rest I left Emstrur hut at about 9:20am. The trail soon crossed Markarfljót Canyon on a wooden bridge with a great view towards Entujökull glacier shimmering under the sun. The trail got busy when I got closer to Þórsmörk. Then I came to the wide riverbed of Þröngá - the last one to cross on the Laugavegur Trail. The Þröngá River was murkier than the previous ones but not as cold. I followed a couple from Colombia and it was fairly easy. After Þröngá the trail entered lush forests and it's a complete change of scenery.
