Grundy Art Galley presents Collection Conversations with Louise Giovanelli. Louise Giovanelli's paintings refer both to art history and contemporary mechanics of viewing and consuming imagery. Giovanelli draws on techniques and motifs of Old Master paintings, re-framing and/or re-casting details gleaned from historical painting into a parallel history of the artist’s own making. Grundy Art Gallery has worked with Louise on a number of artistic and curatorial projects over the past 6 years; Louise Giovanelli: From Here to Here - Part One (14 May – 18 June) and Part Two (2 July – 13 Aug) and ON REPEAT (including work of Louise Giovanelli, Vivian Greven, Will Kendrick, Oliver Laric and Guan Xiao plus works from Grundy Art Gallery’s Collection and the Lytham St. Annes Art Collection) - 23rd March – 22nd June 2019. Giovanelli's paintings Beard III (2016) and Beard IV (2016) entered the Grundy Collection in 2016. Louise Giovanelli (b. 1993, London, UK) lives and works in Manchester (UK).
