New country unlocked in our quest to visit and vlog every country in Europe: PORTUGAL.🇵🇹 We spent a couple of days exploring Óbidos, Portugal, and it genuinely surprised us. Tucked just about an hour north of Lisbon, this medieval walled town feels like it hasn’t changed in centuries, but in the best way possible. We wandered through Porta da Vila’s tiled entrance, walked along the walls of Castelo de Óbidos, stepped inside Igreja de Santa Maria, found one of the best bakeries in the city, and ended up drinking ginjinha (local cherry liqueur) served in a chocolate cup. If you’re planning a Portugal itinerary and wondering about the best day trips from Lisbon, Óbidos absolutely deserves a spot on your list. It’s compact, walkable, easy to reach by car or bus, and gives you that fairytale medieval atmosphere without necessarily needing an overnight stay. Between the history, the castle walls, the bookshops, and the small-town charm, this might just be one of the best places to visit near Lisbon.
