(1 Apr 2019) DAVID OYELOWO RECRUITS FRIEND ANGELINA JOLIE FOR INDIE FILM 'COME AWAY' David Oyelowo recruited his friend Angelina Jolie for "Come Away," a family fantasy that he says became "an indie movie, Jolie style." The 43-year-old British actor says he and Jolie had bonded over their large families -- he has four children and she has six. "A lot of our conversations revolve around being parents and juggling the work-life balance, all that kind of stuff. And so this story came into my life – this script I should say came into my life – independent script. And years ago I had been with Angie and she was bemoaning the fact that no one ever offers her indie movies. You know, 'You're so lucky. You got to do 'Nightingale.'' I'm like, 'What are you talking about? You can do any indie movie.' 'No one offers me.' So I got this script and I literally just called her up and I said 'OK, miss no one offers me indie movies.' And within four days, she was on the film. So I guess she was not lying," Oyelowo said. Oyelowo and Jolie play husband and wife in the film, directed by "Brave" director Brenda Chapman. It's a reimagined origin story for the characters in "Peter Pan" and "Alice in Wonderland." Oyelowo, who will be seen next in the Masterpiece Theatre mini-series "Les Miserables," says their real-life children visited the set and there were child actors playing their on-screen children. "We have all these kids playing the lost boys in there as well. So there were a lot of kids on set, which made us feel very at home," he said. "It was an indie movie, Jolie-style, is what I would say." There's no release date set for the movie, which is expected to play at film festivals. "Gosh, I'd love to see Angie do Sundance chic. She'd do that really well, I think. I could see her in some good snow boots," Oyelowo said, laughing.
