For my final DS Sunday feature this week, I bring you another artist from the British Isle, in the form of Atavistic Passage, who in turn comes in a form slightly different to previous releases. Five tracks of cavernous dungeon synth, wistfully contorted folk melodies and subducted dark ambient, in a deviation from the two previous demos of coruscating black metal, this demo is comprised of instrumental pieces composed, performed and recorded in preparation for Atavistic Passage’s live performances that began with the recent Life After Death Fest of a week ago in London, and in June will accompany Ebony Pendant, Hail Conjurer and Absolute Key in London and Manchester. An initial run of DIY-dubbed self-release tapes have now sold out, but a ‘Second Edition’ cassette will be available soon via Manifest of Hate Creations.
