Here is a short (five minute) clip of pre-flight set up and hover of the Vivitar Skyview Drone. I have less than 10 flights on this aircraft, and only my second video flying these things. Pre-flight checklist: 1. With everything OFF, insert battery into drone. Set drone, facing away from you (red lights face forward, if you have orange propellers they are the front). Turn drone to ON. Step at least six feet back. 2. Holding the transmitter (radio control), press the large round button on the front on the lower-left side. The light on the button will blink red. For me, the button always stayed blinking, even during flight. 3. Pair the transmitter to the drone. With your two antennas on the transmitter sticking outwards, press the left stick all the way up, then all the way down. You will hear a beep, meaning pairing is complete. If you continue to hear beeping the drone is still looking for more GPS satellites to aquire. I silence it by selecting the "low" speed setting on the transmitter. You can later change the speed. 4. Calibrate the drone's internal compass. As in the video, rotate the aircraft clockwise (to the right) a full 4 to five times, or until the red lights on the drone become solid. Next, holding the drone by one of its front arms (red lights) twist the drone along its vertical axis a couple of times until the blue/green lights become solid. Set the drone back down, again facing away from you, and step at least six feet back. I recommend at least 10. 5. Calibrate the drone's internal gyros for stabilization. Holding the transmitter, take both sticks and pull them to the bottom left holding for a few seconds until the lights on the drone slow down. Release the sticks. Drone is now fully set up and ready to fly! 6. Hover! Press the left stick on your transmitter briefly all the way up and release. This will start the propellers, but slow enough as to not take off. To take off, press the left stick up once again. The drone will jump about 4 feet off the ground and hover in place (for the most part). To land, bring the left stick down slowly until the skids touch the ground, holding the stick all the way down until the blades stop. This three-second timespan of waiting for the blades to stop often causes the drone to jump around, as you can see in the video. The trick is to trigger an emergency stop as soon as you touch down by pressing the two inner-most buttons on the top of the transmitter. Practice this method of shutting down to avoid scraping the rotor blades on the ground like I did. Happy Flying!
