Though he spent a seemingly normal youth in Stormwind with his friends Llane Wrynn and Anduin Lothar, the awakening of his immense powers on his eighteenth birthday killed his father, Nielas Aran, and left Medivh in a decade-long coma. Upon waking, the possessed Guardian retreated to the tower of Karazhan, where he succumbed to the whispers of Sargeras and began orchestrating the destruction of Azeroth. Medivh secretly contacted the orc warlock Gul'dan on Draenor, eventually extending an invitation to the Horde to invade through the Dark Portal.
