In this video I experiment with the microwave drying method as I turn some very very wet 5000 year old Irish bog oak , this is the average age of the bog oak that comes from Sneem in Co Kerry. To be honest I did not expect it to work but as I have quite a bit of bog oak I decided to video it to show the outcome so that anyone who only gets one or two pieces will not have to try it. This is a practice piece for when I turn the good pieces I got, and a learning experience for me in both turning this wood and how to best dry it. I turned a small piece about 25 years ago but that was dry so turning a large wet piece was new to me.
