Solitary Bee Hotel - Insect Haven for Winter

I call it a Solitary Bee Hotel, but it works as an insect haven too. As our urban areas expand, and new building practices leave no nooks or crannies for insects to over-winter, often overlooked species find it harder to survive. If we all hung up one of these, it would help a bit. The build is fairly simple. There's no need to make it exacly as I have - butt joints and nails would surfice. Just have a go! There are free plans available on my website, WOmadeOD.co.uk Site against a south facing wall, in full sun. Bees don't like wet homes, so if you're in an exposed position then you could make the roof sections wider, so that they overhang the front. Don't treat with anything, other than some wax on the roof (helps shed water faster), as this will likely put off the bees.
