This journey took us from Lake Balaton, across the plains of Hortobágy National Park, and into northern Romania through Săpânța. In Maramureș, where we stayed for two nights, we completed a longer mountain hike and experienced authentic rural Romania. We continued over the Prislop Pass to Durău, at the foothills of the Ceahlău Mountains, where another two-night stay allowed for a demanding alpine hike. After visiting the medieval town of Sighișoara, we explored the dramatic limestone cliffs of Cheile Turzii, one of the most impressive gorges in Romania. From Sibiu, we drove into the high mountains along the legendary Transfăgărășan Road, spending two nights surrounded by alpine scenery and completing a long high-altitude hike. We then passed Bran Castle, before continuing to Poiana Brașov and later into the Bucegi Mountains, where we spent two nights on the Șaua Cocora plateau, one of the highlights of the entire trip. Our adventure ended on the wild TransAlpine Plateau, a perfect place to conclude this unforgettable motorhome journey.
