Overview of FAA Sponsored Research through the Joint Centers of Excellence for Advanced Materials (JAMS) The Joint Center of Excellence (COE) for Advanced Materials (JAMS) was established in 2004 to assist in ensuring safe and reliable application of advanced composites and new material technologies to aviation products. The Center is a joint effort of the Center of Excellence for Composite and Advanced Materials (CECAM) led by the Wichita State University and the Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials in Transport Aircraft Structures (AMTAS) led by the University of Washington. JAMS is a leader in international coordination of government funded and industry cost-matched research efforts to support standardization of aviation composites and emerging material technologies.
