(3 Nov 2014) With Kentucky Senator Rand Paul by his side, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made a final appeal to Kentucky voters Monday, a day before they head to the polls for midterm elections that will determine which party controls the Senate. Republicans were claiming new momentum in campaigns that have centered on President Barack Obama, who is not on Tuesday's ballot. At a morning rally in Louisville, Paul said Tuesday's elections will be a referendum on Obama's policies. "We're going to send a message, we're gonna send a message to President Obama, this will be a repudiation of President Obama's policies," he said. McConnell, who becomes the Senate Majority leader if the GOP wrestles control, said he will lead Kentucky in making big changes for the nation. "We could have, for the second time in our history, the majority leader of the Senate, setting the agenda for America and taking us in a new direction," McConnell said. Polls show McConnell locked in a tight contest with Democratic challenger Alison Lundergan Grimes.
