Watch #5 Fairmont State match up against #4 Concord in the Quarterfinals of the Women's 25/26 MEC Tournament. Game produced by MetroNews Television Gabby Reep scored 18 points and Fairmont State forced 32 turnovers to edge Concord 58-56 in a tightly contested Mountain East Conference Tournament matchup Thursday at WesBanco Arena. Fairmont State (21-8) built an early lead and withstood multiple Concord rallies in a game that featured 11 lead changes and eight ties. The Falcons opened strong, taking a 19-15 lead after the first quarter, and maintained a narrow 30-26 advantage at halftime. Concord (18-11) battled back throughout the second half, trimming the deficit to one entering the fourth quarter after outscoring Fairmont 15-14 in the third. The teams traded baskets down the stretch, but Fairmont State’s defensive pressure proved decisive as the Falcons converted turnovers into 26 points off mistakes. Reep led the Falcons with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Alanna Tate added 14 points and seven boards. Zaniya Murray chipped in eight points and four assists, and Haylen Cook anchored the interior with 10 rebounds and four steals as Fairmont dominated inside with 40 points in the paint. Concord was led by Abbie Smith, who recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Olivia Ziolkowski added 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Kenyah Stubbs contributed 14 points and six assists, but the Mountain Lions struggled to protect the ball, committing 32 turnovers that limited their offensive efficiency despite shooting 47.8 percent from the field. Fairmont State shot just 34.3 percent overall and 7-of-18 from the free-throw line, but its defensive intensity and ability to capitalize on turnovers helped the Falcons hold off Concord in the closing moments to secure the two-point victory at WesBanco Arena.
