Another barmaid demonstrating the hazards and requirements of being a waitress in a pub in Ye Olden Times in this clip from The Loring Mystery, which was from the anthology series Detective from 1964. In this scene David Loring (David Burke) has lost his memory after being attacked and left for dead, though he still found time to rescue detective Jasper Shrig (Patrick Troughton) for being mugged. But while he is trying to figure out who he is and who would want him dead, Shrig's assistant Vokes (Ivor Salter) is too busy finding out about the barmaid. Despite the pats, prods, gropes and being pulled onto his lap, she takes it all with consummate ease and doesn't seem the least bit bothered (maybe she was going to get a tip out of it at the end?). Meanwhile, viewers will recognize Patrick Troughton, who became better known for his work on Doctor Who from 1966 to 1969, as well as many other things including The Omen. Meanwhile, the man with amnesia is a young David Burke, who viewers may remember as the first Dr Watson in the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series of the 1980's (maybe that's who he should of called on instead?). While it's hard to believe that it's 30 years since Jeremy Brett has been gone, remarkably Burke is still going strong at the grand old age of 90!
