I purchased a 9 inch model C lathe built in 1938 and also a 1937 model 405 lathe. The 1938 lathe needed work, but all the parts where there. I got the 1937 lathe for the longer bed, and this longer bed was in fantastic condition. I rebuilt the lathe and this video shows the before and after shots. The 1938 lathe was used heavily during its life. It was first purchased by a manufacturing company near Detroit. I am not sure what happened after that, but it went through at least two more owners before I purchased it in Charlevoix, Michigan. I don't have the history yet of the 1937 lathe, but I found it in Midland Michigan. It looked like someone was going to rebuild it, but gave up along the way. Several parts were missing, but it had very little wear. You can still see some of the scraping marks on the ways. In case you may not know, the term "Frankenlathe" is used when you mix two or more different lathes to make one modified lathe. Thank you for watching. Aaron Weed
