During the sponsorship process, and leading up to the day my parents moved here, I had to spend a considerable amount of my own money for both of them. This included paying for their flight tickets and additional expenses. When my parents arrived, my mom fell very ill and struggled with depression due to the overwhelming new culture. My parents just returned to Cambodia for about five months, and they will be back in the U.S. in October. I need to book flight tickets for both of them again, which means I have to spend more money. I feel embarrassed and overwhelmed about my situation. Currently, I am in debt because I need to help my family and my parents come to the USA. My family and others didn’t know about my situation, but I realized it’s okay to ask for help sometimes. I’m feeling so helpless and weighed down right now.
