It is probably the only one with original paint on the entire car and not repainted or has a million colors LOL! What a crazy story this car was. I was always interested in owning a 240SX and the early hatchbacks were my favorite style. I was close to buying a super mint 2-tone original coupe before this but decided it was too boxy for me. I found this hatch online without any photos so I called the dealer if they can send me some photos. It looked stock and original and when I saw the Autocheck I was in my car driving through the night. I know these cars are super rare in stock condition. Well this one only had one grandma owner(gently driven), no accidents, it was rust-free(Mississippi car), and it was the fully loaded model. This hatchback/fastback was the 1993 SE Super HICAS model. So this is the Sport Edition model which means it came with a spoiler, alloy wheels, a sunroof, automatic door locks/windows/mirrors. On top of that I found the SUPER RARE SUPER HICAS model. This is the 4-Wheel Steering 240SX. This option is crazy. It is more complicated and has a lot more components inside the engine bay and underneath. It allows the rear wheels to turn when you turn the steering wheel at cruising speeds. WOW it was so fun turning in this car!! It was instant I felt like I was overpowering anyone on the road with such nimble steering. Not only that but the dash on this car is super comfortable and you sit low and flat inside the car. It's totally something else driving this car. I recommend anyone that loves cars to drive this one for yourself! So even though this car was my biggest project I ever conquered I couldn't pass it up and leave it alone in Mississippi where no one understands these cars. This car is an ICON in Chicago, IL. When I finished my restoration I got just as many compliments and stares as my Supra! I bought it from a Ford Lincoln Kia dealer in Lauren Mississippi. It was a 850 mile drive down south for me. Luckily the further I went south the warmer it got it was November when I went to get it. I drove off in the night to make it there on Saturday afternoon. Well when I got there I wanted to see the car without the dealer knowing I'm coming 100% but it turned out they dropped it off at a local detailer that takes care of older cars like this. I found out when I talked to the salesman inside that sent me the photos. So the detailer had it as his shop. We drove there with the salesman and we couldn't even get inside his property because it was fenced out. The salesman gave him a call and turns out he was attending a funeral this Saturday and out of town and he even took the 240 keys with him! Great so I snuck inside and check it out the best I could. The problem was the I was 850 miles away from home and needed to make this happen now. Well I negotiated down (I almost walked away) and we made the deal that that with the right of refusal on Sunday since they are closed that day. Well I didn't drive this far for nothing so I bought it. I was hoping there would be no engine noises but when I started it that Sunday there was a noise which I later fixed and it was the timing chain guides.. I wasn't super familiar with these cars so it was a risk for me. But I saw a solid platform and really clean compared to what's out there on the market. The tires were old, flat, and dry-rotted so it was vibrating down the road and the engine seemed like it wanted to stall out because of a bad thermostat. It was constantly confused with engine temp and the plugs were old. It needed some TLC as the grandma did not really keep up on her maintenance. It was a big project for me as normally I don't buy something like this. BUT I knew how rare this car was so I had to buy it! Plus I had a good feeling I can fix all the quirks on this car but it will take some investment. I went to pay a visit to the grandma's house when I found a receipt in the glove box from Autozone with her address. We told her how these cars are so popular and it's rare to find one like this! (lol she had no idea I am gonna fully restore this whip). She probably thought I was gonna beat it to the ground with drifting. Surprisingly they actually heard about drifting before.
