DR Congo, M23 To Hold Direct Talks? SADC Ends Military Mission In DRC | Firstpost Africa | N18G Southern African leaders of the SADC bloc have announced the withdrawal of their troops from the war-torn region in the DR Congo. This as Rwanda-backed M23 rebels continue to advance. The decision of the phased withdrawal was made during a summit in Zimbabwe. At least 19 soldiers from South Africa, Malawi, and Tanzania were killed when the M23 captured DRC's Goma city in January. 20 troops from Burundi have also been killed in fighting with M23 rebels. Meanwhile, Angola says it would host direct talks between DR Congo and the M23 to halt the fighting.
