2nd February 2019, a band of persistent showers cloaked the high ground of Aberdeenshire in over a foot of snow before later showers fell overnight on lowland Aberdeenshire. I decided to take a drive from Old Rayne with the intention of climbing The Buck of Cabrach behind Rhynie. It became very evident that snow fall was sufficiently heavy to completely obliterate any parking opportunities so I decided a suitable plan B was to try the car park at Tap o'' Noth instead. However the lane to that carpark was under snow sufficient to ground my car. Plan C it was then, the Clashindarroch forest. The carpark was suitably excavated with invitations for volunteers to dig out more spaces. Normally I don't upload my dashcam footage, but today it was so scenic that it was a worthwhile venture to do so. I also took some back roads that were suitably covered in snow and ice and so I wanted to demonstrate how a two wheel drive vehicle with winter tyres (Nokian WR-D4) fares under such conditions. Rather admirably I have to say.
