[COP30] Role of Technology and AI to Fast-Track Decarbonisation

14 Nov 2025 Despite ambitious net-zero pledges, a significant gap remains between decarbonisation goals, actions and achievement. This expert panel will bring together policy, business and technology leaders to discuss the role and importance of digital technology in achieving a net zero emissions future. They will explore the digital climate “tech stack”: technologies that work together to collect, connect and use data for effective and trusted decarbonisation (e.g. cloud and edge compute and storage, APIs and data standards, IoT and instrumentation/ meters, AI/ML, blockchain/ distributed ledger, digital twins and advanced simulations). Key challenges to technology deployment (e.g. energy consumption, interoperability, scaleability) will be addressed along with proposed solutions.
