According to Gemini you can't emboss a mesh in CATIA V5. Actually you can but very few people know about Shape Sculptor workbench and the documentation is very limited. Unfortunately, directly embossing a mesh in CATIA V5 isn't possible. Meshes represent 3D geometry as a collection of polygons, and embossing requires closed, defined surface features like planar faces. However, there are workarounds to achieve a similar effect depending on your specific goal: 1. Convert Mesh to NURBS: Use the "Mesh to BREP" tool in the Generative Shape Design workbench. This converts the mesh to a Boundary Representation (BREP) with NURBS surfaces. You can then emboss features on the converted surfaces. Keep in mind that "Mesh to BREP" results may not be perfect, especially for complex meshes. 2. Use the "Offset Surface" tool: Create a closed surface (planar, cylindrical, etc.) slightly larger than the desired embossed area. Use the "Offset Surface" tool with a negative offset value to create a surface mirroring the mesh on the inside. Combine the original surface with the offset surface using Boolean operations to achieve the embossed effect. 3. Use the "Project" tool: Create a sketch containing the desired emboss geometry. Use the "Project" tool to project the sketch curves onto the mesh surface. You can then use these projected curves as guides to create separate features (pads, pockets, etc.) on the mesh, effectively embossing the design. 4. Use External Tools: Some specialized mesh editing tools like MeshMixer or ZBrush allow direct mesh embossing. You can export your mesh to these tools, perform the embossing, and then import the modified mesh back into CATIA V5.
