The Spektrum DX5 Rugged Radio made quite a buzz in the RC community when it was released. It was a radio specifically built to endure the harsher side of RC. It was meant to handle the elements, water, dirt, snow, falling on the ground, possibly even being kicked around. The radio had cool features like a built in tool case and even a thumb control. Inside was loaded with Spektrum’s great tech. But a big problem was the touch panel. Some found it very difficult to use, but we managed our way through it. As any good company does, Spektrum monitored customer feedback and set off to change the issues for the better. The result is a new touch panel for the rugged radio as well as some new color options and you can easily use it with Spektrum Smart Technology.
