“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head,” made famous by Burt Bacharach, is the iconic theme song from the 1969 film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The movie was filmed in the stunning landscapes of Southern Utah, particularly in and around the 'Ghost town' of Grafton. This timeless song became a symbol of optimism and cinematic history, winning an Academy Award and remaining one of the most beloved movie melodies from that time period. 🎶 "Butch Cassidy" was Robert LeRoy Parker and was born on April 13, 1866, in the territory of present-day Beaver, Utah. He was the eldest of 13 children born to Mormon pioneer parents who had emigrated from England. The real name of the "Sundance Kid" was Harry Alanzo Longabaugh who was born in Pennsylvania in 1867. Both men were personally acquainted with my great-grandfather. It's historically accepted that they both died in Bolivia, 1908, but folklore & family legend says Cassidy returned to Utah and quietly lived under a new alias.
