This is stage 1.0 - Metropolis Quietus - with the Echidna on R-Typer difficulty. Played on Score Attack. About this ship: This ship is the first in the set of lightning wave cannons, which is the obvious precursor to the R13 Cerberus. This ship has a Force that has an energy chain which will damage enemies, but the Force itself does not latch on when you throw it at an enemy. It will not fire when detached either. The red weapon is a continuous laser beam that fires straight ahead, blue is a single laser beam that bends to find targets, and yellow fires in a windshield wiper arc above and below the Force, but the range is rather short. The wave cannon is a two loop charge that fires one lightning bolt at level one and three at level two. They do not home in on enemies, so it must be aimed. Pros: Red weapon fires a continuous laser beam. Yellow weapon is great at taking out things above and below you, and does not stop firing. It fires in a continuous windshield wiper motion. Photon missile homes in to a limited extent and explodes on contact, doing extra damage from the blast. Cons: Wave cannon does not home in and must be aimed. Force does not fire while detached and is reliant on doing damage by proximity and the energy chain. Ships in this series: Cross the Rubicon, Echidna, Cerberus, Hades, Charon Did you know: An Echidna in Greek myth was a half woman half snake. She was the "mother of all monsters." Since this is the first in the R13 style ships, this is a sensible name. All of the R13 style names are from Greek myth. Did you see: Bydo System Alpha flies by before the first wave of Meltcraft show up in the stage. Personal note: This ship is tough to use effectively. It's the first in the R13 series, and it shows. It has some glaring weaknesses and should be replaced by the later models as soon as they're available unless you're looking to limit yourself.
