Horridus, the Triceratops

The world’s most complete Triceratops is 67 million year old. The specimen has 266 bones, including the most famous trio of horns on the planet, and an entire vertebral column. At an impressive 85% complete and weighing around 1,000kg, nearly 7 metres long and 2 metres tall. The triceratops was nicknamed “Horridus” after the species name, Triceratops Horridus. A herbivore, plant eating dinosaur, lived during the Cretaceous period, about 145 million to 66 million years ago. The skull is 98% complete, is tipped with two slender horns at the brow and a stubby horn atop the nose. The neck frill spans 1.5 metres and the skull weighs about 261 kg. The fossil was discovered on a private land in Montana in 2014 and Museums Victoria, Australia acquired the specimen in 2020.
