This week, MAG had the opportunity to interview Tom Oramus from Play By Ears . On November 15th, his company is releasing a new intellectual property called Evidence 111. The game follows Chief Inspector Alice Wells who witnesses something on a rainy September evening in 1975. Ten years later, demons from her past are coming to haunt her. These past revelations could jeopardize Alice’s career. As she attempts to investigate the identity of her blackmailer, Alice is embroiled into the disappearance of a child. Does Alice perform her duty and save the child or does she focus her efforts on protecting her secrets. Those decisions are up to the player. Tom Oramus discussed with MAG the origins of the Evidence 111 plot and how the Prague-based team landed a group of exceptional voice actors to bring the Evidence 111 world to life. The voice acting team includes acting from an international cast, such as Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning Rosamund Pike (The Wheel of Time, I Care a Lot, Gone Girl), Zoë Robins (The Shannara Chronicles, The Wheel of Time), and Mike Bodie (Spectral, Love, Death & Robots), among others. Evidence 111 employs binaural sound design to create a 3D world using sound. The detailed audio tracks combine the voice acting, ambient sounds, gameplay music, player movement, and weather conditions to paint a rich world through sound. As an audio mystery adventure, Play By Ears dedicated a portion of the development process to ensure that Evidence 111 is fully accessible to the blind and visually impaired community. Through a dedicated accessibility mode, Play By Ears ensures that the visually impaired player is supported through a navigation tutorial and by announcing available gaming decisions. If you want to learn more about Evidence 111, follow the development team on social media.
