Starting our journey from Nuwara Eliya, we drive through misty hills and pause to witness the raw grandeur of Ramboda Falls, one of the tallest and most dramatic waterfalls in the country. As we finally reach the base of Ambuluwawa Tower, the real challenge begins. The climb is a constant battle with vertigo, fear, and gravity. The narrow, spiralling staircase, especially in the upper section where the steps wrap around the outer wall of the tower, feels less like a staircase and more like a test of courage. With breathtaking 360-degree views unfolding around us — and the town of Gampola lying nearly 2000 feet below — every step upward feels risky, surreal, and unforgettable. Balancing ourselves on what might be the riskiest climb of our lives, we finally reach the tiny tip of the tower, where space is scarce and emotions are overwhelming. The architecture itself feels otherworldly — a strange, vertical structure piercing the sky, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. The climb is undeniably scary, but the experience, the views, and the sheer sense of achievement make it absolutely worth it.
