Zahir Al Umar Al Zaydani was a member of the Zayadina clan and came from a family of Multazim (tax collectors), he eventually established control over the Galilee and Jezreel Valley, brining order and prosperity in its wake. Alliances made with Nassif an-Nasser and Ali Bey along with fellowships with Catherine the Great and many Pashas of the Damascus Eyalet allowed him to control most of Palestine and the Jordan Valley by 1771, Disaster would strike first with the betrayal of a Mamluk named Abu-Al-Dhahab and peace with Russia allowed the Ottomans to focus their attention on Zahir Al Umar, he was killed on August 22, 1775 and later his alley Nassif an-Nasser in 1781, but their influence never stopped after their deaths and are the cornerstones to today’s Levantine identities.
