46RE Assembly of main case

Back to the bench we go. This time with a 46re, this transmission came in for a slipping in second complaint. During the rebuild procedure we have installed a lot of new parts. Total parts description will be below. While most of the transmission has already been assembled this video still follows the basi principles of assembly for the unit. Though this video does not show every step it does show some very key points in the assembly of the transmission. Some of the key points are proper clutch orientation, gear train stacking, final transmission assembly. The 46re transmission has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. One of the most interesting qualities of the 46re is the hydraulic circuitry. While the base of the unit has not change a lot over the different generations, the hydraulic circuitry has. This version has a electronic governor pressure sensor that communicates to the vehicle computer and allows the upshifting and downshifting. The vehicle speed sensor aids in this process as well. Hopefully in future we can show a complete valvebody assembly. Thanks for watching.
