What if you'd always wanted to draw but thought you couldn't... What if you thought you could only draw stick figures... What if you let yourself feel like that child again who loved to draw... What if you just grabbed a scrap of paper, a pencil and possibly a rubber (not essential)... What if for 30 minutes you just focussed on yourself, not thinking of anything but drawing with Elaine... This is a step-by-step process, don’t worry you don’t need to show your drawings or interact with anyone, as this is all about you just watching Elaine draw and you copying the lines, shapes or shading that she does, focussing on the current moment with no pressure or stress! Just relaxing and enjoying the experience. In a way, it will just be like doodling! You only need a piece of paper (back of an old letter perhaps?) and a pencil or pen or crayon - whatever you can put your hands on. Why not have lunch together as a group and try your hand at this? We've had great feedback from people who have tried it. Her inspiration comes from a diverse range of subjects and themes; from reflections caught on water; the light hitting the canopy of a café scene, to a quiet corner of a harbour and more recently developing her skills in life drawing and portraits. One of Elaine’s greatest achievements was to have two paintings accepted and exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries, London. Elaine has been sharing her passion for drawing and painting for the last 15 years by holding weekly classes and workshops at her lovely studio and is really looking forward to helping us on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus awaken the artist that is in all of us. This event is part of the ‘CBC Wellness Campaign’ – a series of webinars and events supporting the 21,000+ people who work on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, many of whom are at the forefront of the changing face of healthcare. However, these events are also for anyone looking for additional support: you don't have to work here and there is no charge to attend.
