Chainsaw Man Piano Project 2025: Part 1 Here’s my arrangement of the soundtrack “in the pool” - one of the most unforgettable moments from the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc movie. Even after a few weeks, that pool scene never left me. The film’s cinematography was so striking that I wanted to capture it through a musical lens - treating the piano like a camera that paints light and movement. My approach here is more impressionistic: textures and harmonies blur like reflections on water, blending storytelling with sound. ● Sparkling in the Pool In 1:16, I used one of my favorite “water illusions” in music - upward arpeggio scales inspired by Ravel and Debussy, creating the sensation of light gliding across the surface. Later, in 1:49, I added a small tribute to Chopin’s Raindrop Prelude: both share the same key, and its gentle resonance foreshadows the rain that begins to fall right after the pool scene. ● Makima or Reze? The long pause in 2:18 mirrors the slow-motion moment when Denji leaps into the pool - that single held breath before impact. I kept that silence and the sudden fortissimo from the original soundtrack - that shock of sound was unforgettable when I first heard it in the theater. Here, the piano bursts into full fortissimo, striking the lowest bass key “A” and sweeping across half the keyboard in rapid arpeggios - using the instrument’s entire range to create an orchestral impact, as if the whole pool scene explodes into sound. ● “I’ll teach you stuff you don’t know.” One of the most iconic key visuals shows Reze standing in the pool, holding out her hands to Denji in an inviting way - promising that she’ll teach him everything. In that moment, the cinematography, with the sparkling water and faint moonlight, was absolutely breathtaking. I translated that image into sound with delicate, high-register figurations in 3:35, creating a shimmering texture that floats above the melody like reflected light on water (Movie spoilers in the following paragraph) ● Epilogue - On the Way to the Café The original soundtrack ends on an unresolved chord, mirroring Denji’s anxious wait at the café - still hoping Reze would appear. But we, the audience, know the truth. That bittersweet knowledge gives the scene a quiet tragedy: two hearts destined to miss each other by mere moments. Therefore, I added a special epilogue at 4:33 - a final, sorrowful melody line that embodies Reze’s regret, fading away like her final breath before silence takes over. Thank you for listening. Next week’s upload: “IRIS OUT,” the opening song of the movie. See you next time again!
