“Stories Never Told About Ambush Corner, Hue City, Vietnam War” shares the powerful firsthand accounts of Marines from Golf Company 2/5 on the first day of the Battle for Hue, one of the fiercest and most pivotal battles of the Vietnam War. This video shares rarely told, some never told stories of courage, chaos, and survival as Marines fought their way into the city and faced what some called a "suicide mission" into the historic walled city called the Citadel on the afternoon of January 31, 1968. That fight would shape the course of the battle for Golf Company, and is an important story in Marine Corps history. By preserving these untold experiences, this story provides an intimate and historically important look at the brutal realities of combat in Hue City. 00:00 Lance Corporal Barney Barnes was squad leader in Golf 2/5's 2nd Platoon 03:26 I went to Tuscaloosa to meet Bill Tant 05:38 Golf 2/5 joins the fight on the road to Hue 07:15 Holy crap.
