Cities and regions today navigate complex challenges related to the economy, health, climate change, and mobility. Yet, science points to a simple yet powerful solution that delivers widespread co-benefits—the bicycle. However, changing urban infrastructure is difficult, and changing behavior is even harder. No single policy, city, organization, or company can plot the recipe to achieve success. Prof Glaser explores the transformation of urban mobility by challenging the car-centric paradigm and reimagining streets as spaces for life, health, and social equity. She argues that changing urban transportation is not just about bicycles, but about creating and empowering opportunities for systemic change. Meredith Glaser is CEO of the non-profit Urban Cycling Institute and Professor of Cycling at Ghent University. With a background in public health, urban planning, and policy, she is a leading expert, educator, and speaker about the transition to sustainable, inclusive, and healthy cities.
