We strive to create and promote opportunities for life-changing spiritual experiences for individuals and families suffering from all forms of addiction. We share our experience, strength and hope through our own stories of how we ‘came to believe.’ Driven by the original Spiritual principles found in the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, we connect people with the Source of spiritual and physical freedom to discover a new way of living. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Came to Believe Recovery. Our recovery programs are volunteer-based and offer people in recovery a way to give back, to strengthen their own recovery, and to support others who are seeking recovery. For more information on volunteering, please contact us! Hundreds of volunteers make up a powerful network for the spread of our vital message. The Came to Believe Recovery retreats and programs welcome both those addicted AND family members and loved ones. Our volunteer network includes individuals from each of these categories further strengthening, we believe we got sick together and we can get well together. Weekly Meeting Format 01 Serenity Prayer: Each meeting is started by reciting the serenity prayer, and the reading of “How it Works” from the Big Book. 02 Introductions: Introductions are made along with an opportunity for anyone to share something of immediate progress. This can be sudden needs, joys, or how a situation was overcome. 03 Taking the Steps: One of the 12 Steps of Recovery is taught using the legacy guide and other supporting material. This usually takes 10-15 minutes. 04 'Cross Talk' - The remainder of the meeting is spent sharing on the step and how it worked for those who have been to retreat or have taken the steps. Always in a positive environment, we allow for what is called “cross talk” to provide encouragement in fellowship and community building. 05 Closing Prayer: Each meeting ends on a high note, highlighting the fact that the program works, the promises are real, and everyone can be recovered. Meetings close with a prayer. Weekly zoom call schedule here: https://cametobelieverecovery.org/rec... Events CTBR Events jump-start recovery. They are offered on the zoom platform and are led by recovered alcoholics, addicts and family members who are part of the CTBR network. We encourage all who want to recover, addicts, friends and members of the family, to attend retreats together. The CTBR retreats kick-start the 12-Step process for all of us – no matter what the particular position we occupy on the recovery path. We all want relief from the stress and emotional pain of our past lives. Family and friends take the same Steps of AA. Friends and family are powerless over the alcoholic, of course, and we are also often powerless over whatever we’re currently using to manage our lives: control, anger, work, manipulation, avoidance, etc. Whatever our addictions – our defects were based on ways to cope with our pain. We all, sadly, discovered that it’s hard to get enough of something that only ALMOST works. We all need and want to heal and grow. We used different substances (drugs and alcohol) and strategies (control and denial), but our goal was the same: to feel better – to find relief – to give and receive love. Things have gone wrong in the past and we seek a power greater than ourselves. That power is God. We are committed to spiritual growth and healing. We are ready for a relationship with God. Come to a Came to Believe retreat for spiritual awakening and refresh your connections to God, then to your family and to a loving recovery community. Expect a life-changing experience. First things first: Do the 12-Steps, experience a spiritual awakening or renewal, go home and practice these things in all your affairs. Let’s get well together.
